Paris metro will become the world’s first transport network all of which use LED tube lightand other LED lighting. Paris public transport organizations RATP and Philips Lighting Company and France Stepand Soitec signed a contract for four years ,which is part of total of 11 million euros in lighting retrofit contracts. They will work together to complete the Paris rapid rail network transport system with 250,000 lights transform at 302 subway stations and 66 suburban metro stations. RATP hopes to replace more than half of the lights with LED tube light and other LED lamps to reduce energy consumption , while improving the quality of light.

Approximately one million square meters of space will be re- lit by LED tube light and other LED lights, including station entrances , ticket hall , corridors and platforms. RATP described this project as ” Titanic -like challenges .” Paris rapid transit system transporting rail network carries around 12 million passengers a day , the LED tube light and other LED lighting project will achieve a 15% reduction in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions from 2004 to 2020 , to reduce energy consumption by about 12%.
